First I would like to thank you for adding me as a friend. Good luck to you and Tim is right read up on everything you can about the business. If you can stay away form the pay to join site unless it is nationalnotary.org. This is the only site that I would pay to be a member. The support is great and major companies use them when looking for signers. Again I wish you the best and if you need any help or have question just sent me a email at lastsecondnotary@gmail.com and if I can help I will.

GoodLuck,
Donitrie

Tracey,

First, I would humbly suggest you visit my website at http://notarymemphis.com and click on the link there about getting started. If you read my "scare you away" stuff and still want to do this, you will find many good links to sites that can help you.

Second, Dawn on this network is part of the Anytime Services signing service and they are the best. You may want to chat with her AFTER you read more (don't bug the potential client with newbie questions unless you are already hired and in a dire situation -- learn first, then seek clients, then learn more, then market to those clients and others - it can be done, although I would not want to start a Notary Signing Agent business right now during the sub-prime meltdown).

Third, look into the rules and regs for your state. How much can you charge to notarize a document? Does it vary based on how many people sign the document? Are there classes you can take there to be sure you know what you are doing? Once you are well-educated and aware of the rules for your state, you can consider marketing your Notary services to anyone who might need them -- shut-ins, those in medical offices or hospitals where they may not have enough (or any) Notaries on staff. Even prisons or jails if you are willing to go there ( I won't do those any more, but that is another story). There is an ebook you can get on marketing notary services for non-loan-signing business; ask me again after you have read from all the links on my site and I will dig out the contact info to order it.

Fourth, keep reading everything you can and think about what you are reading -- does it make sense? Does it conflict with something else I read already? If so, which do I trust? You are a public official as a Notary Public, but most states offer very little training or instruction on what your duties are or how you can put them to good use. So, you will have to train yourself to a large degree.

Good luck !
